Our Wellness Team
Aurora Blur products are curated by a small, opinionated team of women who actually use what we sell. This page is about us — who we are, how we choose products, and why you can trust our recommendations.
Who We Are
Aurora Blur is built by a team of women in our 35-55 era — the same era as the customers we serve. We're former marketing executives, content creators, wellness practitioners, and skincare enthusiasts who got tired of two things:
- Beauty brands marketed at us with anti-aging fear language
- Wellness brands making medical claims they can't back up
So we built the kind of brand we wished existed when we hit 40 — honest, science-informed, ritual-focused. No miracle promises. No celebrity endorsements. No "doctor said so" without footnotes. Just thoughtfully sourced devices, plainly explained, used consistently as part of a real life.
We don't pretend to be dermatologists. We're not. We're informed users who research carefully and curate selectively. When we share information, we cite what's known and acknowledge what isn't. When we mark something as "may support," we mean it — not "guaranteed to fix."
Our Areas of Focus
Our team's collective expertise spans:
LED & Red Light Therapy
We've spent years researching wavelength specifications (660nm, 850nm, multi-color LED), evaluating consumer devices, and testing real-world use cases. We curate panels and devices based on independent LED count verification, irradiance documentation, and CE/FCC/RoHS compliance — not marketing claims.
EMS & Microcurrent Technology
We understand the difference between consumer-grade EMS (SELV-safe, low intensity, for at-home use) and clinical-grade EMS (used by physical therapists). We curate devices that match the consumer context — never devices that claim clinical results without clinical backing.
Body Recovery & Massage Tools
From cupping to vibration plates to heated wraps, we've tested most recovery technologies available to home users. We curate based on construction quality, safety compliance, and honest use cases — never on "fat burning" or "weight loss" claims (which are misleading regardless of device).
Scalp & Hair Wellness
We curate hair-supporting tools based on what the research actually says about LED wavelengths for scalp use, what consumer protocols look like, and what realistic timelines for visible change involve. We don't promise hair regrowth — we offer tools that may support a comprehensive scalp wellness ritual.
Skincare Devices
From RF to ultrasonic to ion therapy, we curate skincare devices that have a clear technological basis for their function. We avoid devices making cosmetic claims (like "instant lift" or "wrinkle removal") that overstate what any device can achieve.
How We Choose Products
Every Aurora Blur product passes our 7-point evaluation framework before joining the catalog:
1. Safety Compliance
We require CE, FCC, or RoHS certifications at minimum. For higher-risk technologies (EMS, RF), we require SELV (Safety Extra-Low Voltage) compliance. Devices without proper certifications never enter our catalog, regardless of how compelling the marketing.
2. Technology Verification
For LED devices, we verify advertised wavelengths against actual specifications. For EMS devices, we verify voltage and frequency ratings. We don't take supplier marketing at face value — we test, ask for documentation, and refuse devices that misrepresent specifications.
3. Construction Quality
Premium fabrics, durable plastics, USB-C charging where appropriate, secure closures, replaceable parts. We choose devices we'd actually be willing to use for 12+ months — not single-season disposables.
4. Use Case Clarity
Every device must have a clear, honest use case. We don't carry devices marketed as "doing everything" — those usually do nothing well. We carry devices with specific, well-defined applications.
5. Safety Documentation
Each device must come with full contraindication lists, sensitivity warnings, and honest expectations. We expand these in our product pages — never minimize them.
6. FTC-Compliant Marketing
We rewrite supplier marketing for every product. Where suppliers claim "burns fat," "treats arthritis," or "removes toxins," we replace with honest, hedged language. No Aurora Blur product page makes claims that aren't supportable.
7. Real-Life Testing
Members of our team use products before launch. If a device feels uncomfortable, breaks easily, or fails to deliver the experience we'd want — we don't carry it.
What We Don't Do
Equally important — here's what we explicitly avoid:
- No medical claims. Our products are wellness tools. They are not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease. We say this honestly on every product page.
- No before/after weight loss imagery. No device causes weight loss. Anyone claiming otherwise is misleading you.
- No fake doctors. We don't use "Dr." titles loosely, fabricate medical endorsements, or imply medical authority we don't have.
- No anti-aging fear language. We don't sell by making you feel bad about turning 40, 45, or 50. We sell tools that support how you want to live.
- No urgency manipulation. Real prices. Real timelines. No "buy now or lose forever" pressure.
- No fake reviews. Every review on our site is from a verified customer.
Our Sources & Standards
Where our content references research or science, we draw from:
- Peer-reviewed wellness research — Photobiomodulation studies, EMS clinical research, vibration therapy literature
- Industry safety standards — IEC/EN certifications, FCC compliance documentation, RoHS standards
- Consumer protection guidelines — FTC advertising standards, FDA distinctions between wellness devices and medical devices
- Honest manufacturer specifications — verified against independent testing where available
When the evidence is limited or preliminary, we say so. When the evidence is strong, we cite it plainly. When the evidence is anecdotal, we frame it as such — never as fact.
Why Trust Aurora Blur
- We curate, not commodity-flip. Our catalog is 38+ products carefully chosen over 18+ months — not 2,000 random listings.
- We rewrite for safety. Every product page is rebuilt in honest, FTC-compliant language — not copy-pasted supplier marketing.
- We document everything. Every safety contraindication, every use limitation, every realistic timeline.
- We respond. Email care@aurorablur.com reaches real humans, typically within 24 hours.
- We refuse what doesn't fit. If a supplier offers a device that doesn't pass our 7-point evaluation, we say no — even when margins would be high.
How We Stay Current
Our team commits to:
- Quarterly catalog reviews — every product re-evaluated against current standards
- Continuous research — tracking emerging research in photobiomodulation, EMS, RF, and consumer wellness technology
- Customer feedback integration — patterns in customer reviews directly inform our curation
- Regulatory awareness — staying current on FTC guidance, FDA wellness device distinctions, and consumer protection requirements
